Our names are Michael Herpich and Michael
Bölke and we are the two partners
in Giga-International.com.
When, in the
spring of 2003, we set up our own hosting
company, Giga-Hosting.biz, specialising
in web space packages and dedicated servers,
people from all quarters generally dismissed
our idea as a hopeless venture. At the
time the market was already saturated
with hundreds of similar companies in
Germany alone. It would apparently be
impossible for us to compete with established
companies that had already become global
giants with thousands of servers and even
more customers.
Contrary to
the sceptics' and pessimists' forecasts,
Giga-Hosting.biz has itself steadily expanded,
step by step, over the last 36 months
to a size that now ranks among those large-scale
companies once described as "untouchables"
– thanks to our customers. Over
the first 36 months our products, associated
services and in-house one-to-one service
generated so much publicity and interest
that today hundreds of customers world-wide
are now renting web space and their own
servers at Giga-Hosting.biz. When we started
up, we had just one single server in the
data center, but we are now already on
the threshold of exceeding 500 servers
– and our business is expanding
at an ever-increasing rate.
In July 2007,
we established a new datacenter in Munich,
which is our traditional place of business.
This has been done in order to face the
growing demand in colocation and dedicated
servers and to reach an even higher quality
level. The same building also contains
our office rooms which enables us to deliver
excellent support, 365 days a year (also
on holidays and weekends). Servers of
Giga-International now are located in
both high-tech-metropolises, Frankfurt
and Munich.
How
did we manage this?
When we started
planning our company we agreed on three
basic principles that focused on our customers
and that have been applied consistently
and uncompromisingly to this very day:
- Discount prices:
We couldn't see why it shouldn't be
possible to provide attractive web space
packages as well as modern, high-quality
servers at an attractive price. Well-known
discount chains demonstrate on a daily
basis and in spectacular fashion that
quality can be bought at discounted
prices. We decided therefore, that this
exact business model should apply to
all products and services offered by
Giga-Hosting.biz. The very best service
at the very best price – and we
will strive continuously to improve
on both.
- Instant service:
Here too, we just needed to take a look
at daily life to see that there are
major differences to doing business
on the Internet. The idea of buying
clothes without seeking advice from
the shop assistant has become inconceivable
for most people nowadays.
So why shouldn't this also apply when
you make purchases on the Internet?
We have provided several avenues of
communication for our customers and
visitors to contact us as quickly and
efficiently as possible – without
them having to pay a single cent for
expensive hotlines or premium memberships.
- The customer is king
Unfortunately, this principle is practised
less and less nowadays. It's a great
shame because after all, we and other
companies exist solely because of you.
It is the customer's right after all,
to receive good service and friendly
support – insist on it! The customer
is always king with us; you alone are
the centre of attention.
Several technicians now
work alongside us maintaining our customers'
servers at our company headquarters in
Munich and on our server located at the
Atricom Data Center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
